UH-OH: THEY'RE Baaaaack !!

As fall descends and

Leaves turn golden,

Macbeth's 3 witches grow

 Emboldened...

We can hear them slyly scoff:

"Time to craft a deadly broth!

 One that sends chills up the spine;

  Let's prepare some toxic brine" !!

**************

[ADD to cauldron]:

Items found in garbage dumps;

Lies sprung from the lips of Trump;

Tropes 'bout Haitians,

Pink Dalmatians,

Trinkets from a bad vacation.

[ Then, stir in ]:

Autumn leaves attacked by mold;

Grubs and web-worms, big and bold;

Tail of skunk, wayward vines;

 Tons of awful MAGA signs...

It's almost ready;

Yet, (we think)

It needs more 'oomph'

To really STINK

[ Thus, ADD to mixture]:

P. Diddy's pants and picnic ants;

 Beard debris from J.D. Vance...

Crazy Yarvin, Peter Thiel;

Worm-infested wagon wheel;

Global warning, freak-deniers;

Broken, rusty metal pliers...

Now blend real well,

(Until it swells);

Then, crank the heat up

Way past hell!

OH! Bubble, bubble, election-trouble;

Will 'The Madman' score a double ?

"SUBTLE HAZE" ?

Subtle Haze of Darker Days

(i.e., those yet to come)

As grayish days grow longer,

Moon's shadows beckon stronger ;

The squirrels and sparrows

Play in barrels,

Perched among the

 Footpaths, narrowed...

Saturn spins ghost-tales

Beneath twilight's dusk;

Venus drips billows

Of late-evening musk.

Autumn-bred corn husks

Top sweet-scented  hay bales;

Fancy-faced pumpkins

Dot cider-sprigged

Fence rails...

YET...

Nature turns tearful

When scanning the hillsides:

Its bounties are dimming,

Its pastures wane, sun-dried.

Oh!  Heed the far echoes

Of  wind, rain and cold...

Spot butterflies quicken

 On each marigold...

GATHERING REQUISITE INSPIRATION AS

September winds down...

"Nature is often hidden; sometimes overcome; seldom extinguished"

                                                                 -Francis Bacon

"Beauty is everywhere a welcome guest"

                                                -Goethe

"Nature I loved, and next to nature, art"

 "Happily we bask in the warm September sun,

which illuminates all creatures."    — Henry David Thoreau

By now, we've said:

             FAREWELL & BYE-BYE

                         TO THE 8TH MONTH

   Don't tell me it's over,

Thick dew clutches clover;

      Cicadas still spook passersby...

Pale oceans spill over

 Those white cliffs of Dover;

Bright monarchs

Fling mist toward

The sky...

Smoke-stacks

Toss ashes about

The limed grasses;

Gray pigeons in eaves launch this coo:

 Adieu, sweetest August !

You're one in a million !

  Oh my, how we EVER loved you !!

  Come again soon !!!

Channeling Lewis Carroll, (perhaps ??)

SING A SONG OF SILLY

  A pocket full of wry...

               -written by L.P.-G.

Wasps cannot

Craft noble jelly;

Pigs never graze

 Temperate skies...

Neither have I

Seen a cow

Shoot the moon,

But nursery rhymes

Still warm

  My eyes...

The butcher

(With baker),

And candlestick maker,

Had set out to prove

Tubs were sound:

Their luck faltered early,

They entered gates,'pearly';

'Tis rather a pity

They drowned!

Those three

Little kitties

Toured multiple cities

Before gulping down

Minced-mouse pie;

Three piglets, quite plump,

Gave 'wolfie' the dump;

 That bad boy waved houses

BYE-BYE

And gander (with gosling)

Enjoyed a good Riesling:

One that's

  Remarkably dry...

Yet, cats

Cannot strum

On a fiddle;

And Humpty's great

Fall was a bore;

The dish and the spoon

Staged their shoot-out

At noon;

(But)

Mother Goose is the

Gal we adore !!
