"THIS IS DANTE'S VERSION OF A PRESIDENTIAL RACE"

The above was very recently opined by none other than Jake Tapper…

… and [OH!] How I agree!!!

"No one thinks of how much blood it costs".
     Dante Alighieri

[Rev. Burns, are you listening?]

David, how about you??

Pride, envy, avarice - these are the sparks that have set on fire the hearts of all men.
Dante Alighieri

Yet, hell hath no fury as (compared to) those ultimately duped by a dishonest con artist.

IN THIS PAST YEAR….

There is one certain individual,
who has repeatedly
USED POOR GRAMMAR…

OVER AND OVER AGAIN

and his name is Donald J. Trump…
He uses the word "bad" when he really means "poor" 100% of the  time!]

No Meager 'Passion Play'

No Meager 'Passion Play'

This dance of 'political circumstance',
Deadly as nightshade, bristly as thorns;
Worn as the annals of sorrow and shame
Darkened by avarice, chastened by scorn.

                    Wooed by the rapture of raison d'ĂȘtre,
                     One clammy handshake undoes it all;
                     Carrying the burden of haphazard chance
                     Only the lonely still spar at the hall.

   Yet, clear of forged rhetoric, drained of pale lies,
       I have not bent down to scorch at the earth;
       Nor have I drunk from the commonplace wells
       Seasoned with venomous, poisonous mirth.

       We'll see very soon who wins and who 'wars';
        No matter how 'trite' or absurd the teams lean;
       Behold autumn's forces on key judgment day
       The master-at-large drafts a dank, somber scene.
Poem written by L.P.-G. / c. August 2016

A THOUSAND POINTS OF LIGHT

A THOUSAND POINTS OF LIGHT-- so very déjà vu

The current summer heat evokes a piquant wave of familiarity, one tending a lovely August interval experienced several years prior; 1988 was also an election year, a fact which clearly adds to the air of dĂ©jĂ  vu that swoons down and swirls its way past my sanctified senses stunned by such knowledge.

My room looked much like this one…

Monday through Friday, I rode a bus down 16th Avenue to AFIP.

Rock creek park and the Washington D.C. Zoo were close by…
Of course, there are tons of things to do and see in our nation's GREAT capital… I so fondly recall the orchids at the botanical gardens…

Classmates I met drove me to Philly on some weekends… my parents lived in Ardmore, PA  BACK THEN.
EVERYONE AT THAT TIME WAS RAVING ABOUT THE MOVIE CAPTIONED BELOW…YET TO THIS DAY I'VE NEVER SEEN IT!
Relevant data opines that the heat wave of 1988 was worse than what we're experiencing currently; nonetheless, the sense of dĂ©jĂ  vu continues to be enormous!!!
"It was during the summer of 1988 that a heat-wave struck the Plains and Eastern states of the U.S.; temperatures that could only be described as 'brutal' persisted for days on end".

Finally found this pic from my time on Glen Road in beautiful Ardmore, PA... Oh 1988, I miss you!

I ALWAYS TAKE MY COFFEE BLACK…

YES, I ALWAYS TAKE MY COFFEE BLACK…

BUT A 'SOUL' IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT MATTER

The evil that is in the world almost always comes out of ignorance; yet, "good intentions" may result in as much harm as malevolence … if those intentions lack proper understanding.
 Albert Camus

Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for EVIL to triumph.
 Haile Selassie

WORDS - so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary; how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.
Nathaniel Hawthorne

Government is an 'evil'; it is only the thoughtlessness and vices of men that make it a "necessary evil". When ALL men are good and wise, government will (of itself) decay.
Percy Bysshe Shelley

There are times when external circumstances can overwhelm us, and we do things we never thought. If you're not aware that this can happen, you can be seduced by evil. We need inoculations against our own potential for evil. We have to acknowledge it. Then we can change it.

Philip Zimbardo

In times such as these, people should recognize that evil knows no borders, knows no limits and knows no compassion. Those around the globe that value freedom must continue to persevere even in the darkest of times.

Michael Burgess

One that confounds good and evil is an enemy to good.
Edmund Burke
