ORNAMENTAL EARNESTNESS
Close by, ropes
of restive little lights
Considerately pulse
their own tempo;
Steeped in a
solemnity intent on
Self-centered yearning
.
For 'what', you
ask? For the
"Too quickly"
passing years,
(I imagine):
Those that
strike with
Tactless abandon;
Those that cross
our
Life path with a
sour nostalgia.
The deepening earnestness
of fleeting years,
Ephemeral halos grasp bitter tears;
The gods of good grace
Ephemeral halos grasp bitter tears;
The gods of good grace
Are strung 'round
the tree...
[Noble souls discern
this,
Priceless boughs for all to see].
Priceless boughs for all to see].
