Roses are red,
[We ALL can agree];
And these little cuties
Are precious to me !!!
Just a random array of thoughts, opinions, and the occasional whimsical (or not quite so whimsical!) rambling...
My Valentine 'book-end' grand-daughter!!!
That is, our
b'days occur before and after the BIG RED HEART DAY...
Three days past 'Ground-Hog'
Our son raised his OWN head,
And greeted the world in a flurry.
But now that he's older
We say, "Take
your sweet time"
No need to grow up in a hurry !!
Please take precious moments
To enjoy what's around you;
Work hard, yet
Play hard, as
well...
We hope that this birthday
Brings health, wealth and laughter
Plus memories
Exceedingly "swell" !!
Including
this one !!!
It's our precious grandson, John !!!
And we've loved you every
THEY ARE MY ANCESTORS
FROM VERY FAR BACK !!!
Katherine Swynford's life holds many of us in thrall for she enchanted a royal prince for many decades! As for John, he too was a very captivating individual. John of Gaunt was believed arrogant by his enemies yet considered a powerful Plantagenet prince by his friends. Was Katherine a brazen seductress? A scandalous mastermind? All the same, what special charm did she have for John of Gaunt to love her so passionately? At a time when neither of them was young but perhaps still 'young at heart' [John at 56, Katherine at 46], he decided to finally "put a ring on it". In that day and age, nobles did not always feel the need to marry their mistresses, but John ultimately did: A month before Valentine's day.
January 13,
1396 was their wedding date
Oh, how I love genealogy !!!!!
